The client had asked us to replace one of the four boilers in Winchester due to the boiler leaking and being beyond repair.
This involved isolating the gas pipework and disconnecting the power supply to the boiler. We then had to remove the flow and return pipework from the back of the boiler and blank the system pipework to make it safe.
We then disconnected the drains, flue, and the safety valve ready for removal from site.
We used a lift and shift company to move the boiler through underground walkways to the open loading area ready to be craned out.
We then lifted the old boiler out by crane, and lowered the new boiler down. It was then moved into the plant room and placed onto the concrete base. We had to ensure that it lined up with the existing pipework markings.
We then installed the 150mm fabricated pipework onto the new boiler, then installed the safety valve and drains.
We installed the gas pipework, tested the system and once this passed the test, we then purged the gas through to the boiler.
We tested the flow and return pipework, and once passed, we then installed the new pipework insulation. Once completed, we opened the system
The boiler was then commissioned by the manufacturer.
